Most people consider Bulgaria to be some sort of second rate ski country, but this is not normally backed by having actually been out there! The truth is, Bulgaria is probably slightly inferior to some of the resorts in the Alps, but for the price you pay it is immeasurably better value. Despite it being less than well known for producing great skiing, you will find if you do head out for a skiing holiday that the snow record is actually very good. The North York Moors is one of the largest expanses of heather moorland in the entire UK, and remarkably it covers 554 square miles! Despite its size, the population of the area is only 25,000 people, which shows you just how underpopulated the area is, and how much of the land is purely moor land. The area is absolutely fascinating, and for any walkers it is an absolute haven. There is so much history here, and with over 700 sites regarded as scheduled ancient monuments, it is an important archaeological site indeed.
